Celebration of Achievement Ceremony - 11 June 2008

The seventh Celebration of Achievement Ceremony will take place at 7.30 pm on 11 June 2008.

Thanks are due to the staff who have planned this event and also to the local businesses, organisations and individuals for their sponsorship and generosity. The Celebration of Achievement Committee comprises: Mr G Herbert, Mrs B Lewis, Mrs J Bartlett, Mr D Brockett, Mr L Foss, Mr M Turner, Mrs C Boyle, Mr S Bowman, Mrs N Patterson, Mrs S Gilliland.

As a school, we are proud to honour the young people of Lockerbie Academy who have worked so hard to fulfil their potential and support the school aims.

We hope, with the continued support of the community, this event will go from strength to strength.

Prizes are not only awarded for academic achievement but equally for ‘endeavour’ ie those students who consistently try their best.

We are very fortunate to have as our Principal Guest this year, the well known local Border TV personality Fiona Armstrong.

Fiona Armstrong is a broadcaster and writer. She presents ITV Border’s nightly news programme, Lookaround – and other shows, including politics, gardening, cooking and fishing programmes.

A former ITN newscaster and reporter, Fiona’s work took her to places like Africa, where she made a programme on Aids orphans. She covered the Lockerbie air disaster and other major news stories. She has fronted antiques and lifestyle programmes and a series on international businessmen for an American network.

She has presented a cooking series and has produced several series of ‘Clans’ programmes on Scottish families. She recently finished a third series on River Journeys.

Fiona has written two fishing books and two cookbooks and is currently working on a tongue in cheek book on speech. She writes for newspapers and magazines.

Fiona’s hobbies include cooking, fishing, swimming and clan research.
