S3 Business Management Enterprise Project - 2008/09
The S3 Business Management
class are starting up their own business. They will be selling
from the week commencing 20 April. The name of their business
is LA Treats and their product is called ‘Munchy Crunchy Delight’.
It is a yummy chocolate-based confectionery. All the profits will
be going to their chosen charities, the Alexandra Ward in the
Dumfries and Galloway Infirmary and Lockerbie Academy’s link school
in Malawi. If you would like to try their Munchy Crunchy Delight
then please ask your child to buy you a piece. Each slice costs
a very reasonable 50p.

Making the First Batch of Munchy Crunchy Delight |
The business will
cease trading on Friday 12 June to allow time to calculate finances
and to make arrangements to deliver the profits in person to their
nominated charities.
It is hoped that
the pupils will then create their own web page providing more
information on their enterprising project including photographs,
podcasts and samples of their business stationery. However, you
can view the first business documents they created in class by

The pupils have also organised a non-uniform day for Thursday
28 May. The proceeds will be donated to the same charities as
above.
S2 Recipe Book
As an Enterprise Activity last session,
S2 designed and compiled a Recipe Book full of their favourite
recipes. Every pupil has a recipe in the book and every pupil
entered a competition to design the front cover. Well done to
all pupils who took part. The winners of the front cover competition
are shown below:
Lewis Fisher, 2G - overall winner
Kirsty Prentice, 2D
The Recipe Book is now available from the Business Studies Department
at a cost of £4 each or 3 books for £10.
Recently the Business Studies department received a letter from
a satisfied customer who is delighted with the recipes she has
used from the book. She also loved the idea of including all pupils.

Calendar
2008
This year the calendar has been compiled by the S3 Business Management
class. They decided to choose a mixture of paintings produced
by pupils from different stages throughout the school. They also
decided they wanted photographs of local monuments and places.
They have now sold all the wall
calendars and have some of the small CD desk calendars still to
sell. They are 2 for £5. These can be obtained directly
from the school.
