Lockerbie Academy Under-13s
reach National Semi-Final
Lockerbie Academy 2 v
1 Port Lethan Academy (Aberdeen)
Scorers: Sean Dunbar, Eddie Booth
Man of the match : Bob McGowan, Robbie Carter
In a competition with almost 200 teams Lockerbie’s Under-13 team
reached the semi-final. Well done to the Under-13 team and the
support (both were excellent). Against very strong opposition
Lockerbie took an early lead when Eddie Booth calmly stroked a
half chance past the goalkeeper.
Lockerbie looked well on top, but Port Lethan gradually came more
and more into the game, hit the post and eventually scored a break
away goal – a half time draw was just about right. Tension increased
as the second half continued. Port Lethan hit the bar, and Luke
Hammond, Kieron McCrudden and Zak Caldwell had near misses.
Dramatically with one minute to go Sean Dunbar broke free and
tucked an accurate shot past the goalie, for a last minute winner.
Thanks again to Annan Athletic FC for hosting the match, and both
teams and their supporters for contributing to an exciting cup
tie.
The date of the semi-final against St Andrews High, Coatbridge
will be announced soon.
Team: Robbie Carter, Connor Graham, Bob McGowan, Danny Graham
(c) Kyron Jackson, Zak Caldwell, Luke Hammond, Kieron McCrudden,
Dean Smith, Eddie Booth, Sean Dunbar.
Subs: Levi Carrick (used), Jordan McGinlay, Lee Scott, Ryan Arthur,
Ross Burgess.

They will be selling from the week commencing 20 April. The name
of their business is LA Treats and their product is called ‘Munchy

All the profits will be going to their chosen charities, the Alexandra
Unit in the Dumfries and Galloway Infirmary and Lockerbie Academy’s
links school in Malawi. If you would like to try our Munchy Crunchy
Delight then please ask your child to buy you a piece. Each slice
costs a very reasonable 50p.

Our New Link

Lockerbie Academy is delighted
to announce that we are now officially linked with Thawale Primary
School in the Mulanje District of Malawi in the South of Africa.

Primary School has almost 1200 pupils aged between 6 and 18. |
|
Our link school
has only 9 teachers with the average class size over 100 and
one class at Thawale has 250 pupils in it. |
|
In the last few
years, the school has repaired pipes which bring fresh water
from the mountains and has repaired the toilet roof, which
have been major achievements. |
|
At school the
main subjects taught are Maths, English, Chichewa, Science,
Social Studies, Agriculture, RE, The Bible, Music, Expressive
Arts and Life Skills. |
|
At Thawale there
are extra curricular classes in football and netball. Music
is very popular and there is a school band and choir. |
Lockerbie Academy
staff and pupils have been meeting to discuss the school link
and pen letters have arrived from Malawi for staff and pupils.
The school is also gathering textbooks and stationery which hopefully
can be sent to Malawi.
