News from Lockerbie Academy - Thursday 24 June 2010

Ninth Annual Celebration of Achievement Evening

This year parents pupils and guests were invited to the new School Assembly Hall for the ninth annual Celebration of Achievement evening. Mrs Genia Cotter, Principal Teacher (ICT/Technical) was the Master of Ceremonies, assisted by Ms Margot Cook (PT Health and Fitness) and Head Girl Lynsey Armstrong and Head Boy Tom McMinn. Mrs Cotter welcomed everyone to the event, especially Alistair Stevenson a local solicitor who was the Guest of Honour. Jim Rae former PT Biology was present to pipe the guests to their seats.

The first awards were the S4 Awards for Endeavour and Achievement although it was noted a lot of awards had already been presented for 1 or 2 Endeavour Awards.

Entertainment came from Liam Rogerson singing ‘Scots Wha Hae’, Grace French singing ‘Ae Fond Kiss’ and the Fiddle and Flute Group providing a set of tunes. Mrs Cotter gave an excellent review of the past year and a presentation was given on the RE Trip to Krakow and the events organised by the African Malawi Link Group.

The S5/6 students were then presented with their Awards before the Subject Trophies and Special Awards were presented:
