“Côr
Meibion Dyfi” - Male
Welsh Choir
The literal translation is: “Sons
of the Dovey Valley Choir”.
The choir’s ‘home
base’ is the market town of Machynlleth, where in 1404 Owain Glyndwr
established the first Welsh Parliament – six hundred years before
the Welsh Assembly of today!
Welsh is widely
spoken in the Machynlleth area of mid Wales and singing is a very
important and vibrant part of every day life.
Parti Meibion
Dyfi
The party was established
in 1980 as a Cerdd Dant party to complete in the National Eisteddfod
at Machynlleth the following year. At a later stage it was decided
to concentrate on male voice choral singing and thus the present
choir was formed. The majority of the numbers live locally in
the Dovey Valley community and enjoy holding numerous concerts
each year covering the length and breadth of the country for the
benefit and pleasure of others.
