News from Lockerbie Academy - Thursday 2 July 2009

P7/S1 Induction Week

Last week all 137 new S1 pupils came to Lockerbie Academy to follow their 2009-2010 timetable and settle into their new school. The ‘Transition’ week seemed to go exceptionally well and two students – Ellen Boomer and Sam Copeland kept a diary of the 5 days:

Ellen’s S1 Diary

Day 1

Today I had Art first thing. We were doing quick drawings then we had a competition. The girls won. I also had Maths, French, RE, Science and English. Art was my favourite today.

Day 2

This morning I had Home Economics. It was really fun, I have Mrs Reid. I had to get my photograph taken today because I am writing a diary all week. I missed some of French today because I had to wait for Sam to come. I had to play drums in front of everyone today in music.

Day 3

The lunches here are great!! Today I had a sausage roll. I had double PE today bit it only felt like one because Mr Dillon talked for ages (hehe), but it was really fun. We had Mrs Cullens for French today. She is great fun. One of my Sixth Year buddies Ashleigh was not here yesterday but she was back today.

Day 4

This morning we had assembly. It was a really good first one because we had powerpoints of pictures and also things we can do within school. e.g. Clubs, Teams, Head boy/girl etc. I had Technological Studies today. I made a spin top. It was so much fun. Today Mr Ferrie came into my Drama class and took photos of me and my classmates doing drama. In the Academy each day gets better and better for me. One day your doing experiments in science the next your making spin tops, who knows what you’ll get up to next. Whether your leaving, left or still getting ready to come it will/would have been a great experience for you all.
