Fantasy
Football
This will be the
fourth season of Fantasy Football in Lockerbie Academy. The activity
will take place throughout the school year starting in October
2009.
Schools Fantasy League is an educational resource that helps pupils
to develop a range of skills in Maths and ICT. It involves pupils,
staff and parents picking and managing a fantasy football team
of their own and being part of our school’s league. The activity
is played online through a professional and safe web site (www.schoolsfl.com)
that has been specially designed for pupils to use. Thousands
of pupils across the country are involved – whether or not they
have an interest in football! Our school is keen for as many pupils
(and parents) as possible to take part. Mr Dickson of the Maths
Department is responsible for administering the League in school.
| Schools
Fantasy League is run for schools by Fantasy League Limited,
the inventors of Fantasy Football. This format has also
been developed for the BBC and The Daily Telegraph. The
organisation developed a schools version of the activity
in 1999 and more than 1,700 schools and over 100,000 pupils
across the UK are currently involved. |

The
cost for your child (and you) to participate for the year
is £3.50. This will entitle them/you to have a team
in the school league. As the Manager of their/your own fantasy
football team, they/you will choose 11 Premiership players
and compete against pupil, staff and parent teams. Positions
in the league are dependent upon the performance of players
on a weekly basis in the Premiership and their/your skill
to make decisions about player transfers as they progress
throughout the season. |
They/you will also
be able to play against pupils, staff and parents at other schools
involved in the activity across the country and there will be
awards for Manager of the Month and the opportunity to win medals,
prizes and fantastic trophies.
Schools Fantasy League is an educational resource endorsed by
Curriculum Online. It is a fun learning experience and is compatible
with the national curriculum.
Entries should be sent to Mr Dickson, no later than Friday 9 October
2009.
We will give regular progress reports on this webpage.
