In
the middle of this picture is Bev Corrigan, the School nurse
for Lockerbie Academy. Bev comes in to school on a Thursday
and holds a school ‘drop in’ and appointments service for
all pupils. She also takes part in health promotion events
and helps us to deliver the school PSE programme and health
screening/ surveillance.
On either side are Mrs Morag MacPherson and Mrs Kenna Bannister
who are the main first point of contact for pupils who are
unwell in school. They are qualified first aiders who also
ensure any medication that pupils are prescribed to have
during school hours is kept securely and is available to
pupils when they request it. |

This is Dr Lucy
Sloan the community Paediatrician who provides medical expertise
in child health, development and disabilities to the school.
Dr Sloan works along with schools and parents and contributes
to the assessment and review process of children who need
extra support in school. |
As
a health team our aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle
and deliver a good ‘health’ service for the pupils at Lockerbie
Academy, whether it is in an emergency situation where they
require immediate first aid, or supporting their long term
health care plan, to offering advice and encouragement.
As school nurse for Lockerbie I will update this web page
with advice and information that you may find useful throughout
the year. For now I have included some national web site
addresses on a variety of topics for your perusal.

Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio Booster Vaccinations
for all S3 Pupils
We are approaching that time of year again when we are offering
Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio booster vaccinations to all
year 3 pupils. I cannot stress more highly the importance
to all pupils of having this injection. All these diseases
are dangerous and life threatening, which is why in this
country we are fortunate to have a national vaccination
programme. Click here to

I can be contacted via the school office or on 0783 4445336
