Business Studies offers pupils the opportunity
to prepare for Life Long learning which includes the world
of work and Further Education through the courses offered
from S1 to S6.
In
S1 and S2 pupils become familiar with Microsoft software
and become proficient in the use of PowerPoint, Word, Publisher,
Excel and Access. Pupils also use Encarta and the Internet
for purposes of Research. In S2 pupils are engaged in Enterprise
activities which incorporates a cross curricular theme,
including the Health and Fitness Faculty, Creative and Aesthetic
Faculty and English Faculty. A course of Money Management
includes budgets, Petty Cash and Booking Accommodation and
Travel which gives them good life skills. At the end of
S2 pupils complete Intermediate 1 Core Skills in ICT to
consolidate their learning.
In S3 and
S4 pupils are prepared for the world of work through courses
in Administration, Accounting and Business Management.
In S5 and
S6 pupils are prepared for the world of work and Further
Education through the courses on offer. These include ECDL,
Oracle and the Certificate of Financial Services as well
as the NQ courses at Higher and Advanced Higher Level.
