Principal Teacher - Ms S Elliot

 

 From the Principal Teacher...

The department aims to promote the value of learning a foreign language and to equip pupils with the necessary language skills to enable them to be proficient. The department caters for pupils of all ability. It is our aim to encourage pupils to feel confident in using the foreign language. The department is keen to introduce pupils to the life and culture of the countries where the language is spoken.
Subjects on offer...

The Faculty offers French, German and Spanish. French and German can be studied from first year through to Standard Grade and on to Higher Still courses at Intermediate/Higher/Advanced Higher level. Spanish is offered as a taster course in S1/2 and in S5/6 as part of the Higher Still programme.

The study of a second language...

Pupils can opt to study a second language, French/German, in their third year and take it to Standard Grade level and beyond. Pupils can also take a second language French/German/Spanish in S5/6.

The Figeac Exchange 2007

Lockerbie Academy has a long-standing link with the College Marcel Maslou in Figeac in the Lot region of France. The exchange was established in 1979 and has been running for 28 years now. A group of 37 pupils and 4 members of staff went to Figeac in September 2007. It is a popular exchange and pupils can forge strong bonds with their host families with some pupils going to Figeac three times during their school career.
