Battlefields Trip 2009 - Lockerbie Academy Remembers

For the last 11 years students from Lockerbie Academy have visited the battlefields of World War1 to pay their respects to those who fought and died and also to help with their Standard Grade History course.

All pupils on the trip were very aware of the importance of the trip and its significance to the school and our community and the way they participated and reacted did us all proud. Responsible Citizenship is a phrase we hear debated a great deal and I can guarantee to you that the students on this trip were young people who achieved this status and beyond. The school and its students place a huge emphasis on the importance of the word remembrance and will continue to do so as we understand that the past can teach us a great deal about the future. The young people involved did the school and the community proud and we hope have asked them to think more about remembrance and its importance.
