down from coaching the basketball team after 15 years of

At this point
it was noted that pupils succeeded in many other sports

and air rifle shooting. Of course it was very appropriate
to mention another year of curling success with Anna Sloan
being runner up in the Scottish Junior Championship, skipping
the school team to the quarter finals of the Scottish Schools
and taking part in the European Mixed Championships. Hannah
Fleming’s rink of Alice Spence, Kimberly Smith and Kirsten
McNay won the Hay Trophy and the U/21 Grand Slam. Stuart
Hardie’s rink also had a successful year and won the Staff
VAT Shield Competition.
Finally the
main three awards were announced. The short leet for teams

Finally a
vote of thanks was given to the PE department, Mrs Gilliland
for producing all the certificates, Mr Bowman for the “Stars
of Lockerbie Academy” slide show, all the coaches of teams
(both staff and parents) and Marion Murdoch.
The pupils
were encouraged to keep participating in their sports and
achieve their best by showing a good attitude, practising
hard and harnessing their skills to the full. |
